Our microwave test kit allows your safety officer or laboratory personnel to test your laboratory microwave for microwave safety and consistent operation.  This kit works on any microwave used in the laboratory or even those used in food preparation.  Included in this kit:

Microwave leakage 

• A professional quality microwave leakage survey meter to test for microwave leakage from your microwave.  This survey meter is easy to use and simple to follow instructions are included.  The microwave survey meter is calibrated for 2.45 GHz, the operating frequency of microwaves and its calibration is traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) standards.
• A detailed test procedure
• A test record to be retained.

Temperature reproducibility  

• A microwave safe container and a NIST calibrated thermometer and probe to measure temperature reproducibility and output power of the microwave. 
• Detailed instructions on how to measure temperature reproducibility and output power of the microwave. 
• A test record and worksheet is included.

Acceptable microwave materials

• A list of acceptable microwave transparent materials
• A method to test for material acceptability
• A record to record materials used in the microwave

The tests for microwave leakage and temperature reproducibility are easy to perform but should be performed with care by the person responsible for the safety of the laboratory and equipment.  Ideally this is performed by the Biotech or service technician.  While the microwave test kit will help maintain safety in the lab, make sure it is required by your testing protocol.
