The BP-125 is an economical compact time and sample temperature based microwave for tissue staining and other general laboratory heating. Program the controller with desired temperature and times and the microwave follows the program. Because the process is controlled by the sample temperature, the process is consistent each time and every run, regardless of any number of conditions that can change power levels. The variation of these conditions (including line voltage fluctuations, sample size, microwave component temperature and age of the microwave) are the largest cause of inconsistent processing when using microwave ovens designed home use. The user can program the controller to increase the temperature of the sample at a controlled rate and then hold the sample at a desired temperature for any length of time.
The BP-125 is a high grade laboratory microwave. The cavity has a powered exhaust to remove obnoxious fumes and prevent their build-up inside of the cavity. This microwave features a corrosion resistant and easy to clean stainless steel cavity and outer housing. Heating uniformity is achieved by a “Mode stirrer” system and gives extremely good heating uniformity.
The standard thermocouple is easily replaced in less than 2 minutes without tools. Because of the contact type thermocouple, this microwave is not recommended for dry or small liquid samples less than 250ml. Other thermocouples configurations are available*.
*A thermocouple probe is a good choice if your liquid sample size is 250 ml or greater, or you reduce the microwave power. Samples that are smaller or dry increase the chance of arcing or temperature errors due to potential interaction of the microwaves with the thermocouple. The thermocouple probe can also remove heat from smaller samples causing errors in the temperature. For smaller samples or for samples that are corrosive, we recommend our BP-125-IR which uses an infrared temperature sensor in place of a mechanical thermal probe.
Power control:
The controller uses the measured sample temperature and compares it to the programmed protocol. If the sample temperature is too low, it turns the microwaves on, or it turns the microwaves off if the sample temperature is at or over the desired temperature. The controller continues these evaluation steps to keep the sample temperature following the programmed protocol. The BP-125 laboratory microwave produces up to1000 watts of power for quick work of larger samples**.
Simple to use:
Turn the main power on. Place your sample into the microwave cavity and insert the thermocouple in the sample. Set you ramp time, soak time and desired temperature. Press the microwave on button. Your heating process has started and will be consistent because the heating is based on the temperature of the sample, not a power level that can vary because of a number of factors.
